How can I prepare my lawn for autumn / winter?

As the colder days are coming and nights draw in, some of us tend to forget about our lawn care. it is as important to care for our lawns in the colder months, as it is the warmer months. Looking after your lawn in Autumn and Winter is the perfect time to prepare your lawn for Spring.

Alongside our weed and feed Autumn treatments, we also offer aeration and scarification solutions to control moss and improve the soil. Our aeration treatment will help relieve compacted soil filled with moss and thatch. The treatment is mechanical and you can learn more about it here. We also offer scarification treatments which aid in removing the thatch off your lawn. You can learn more about our scarification treatment here.

So, now you know our treatment programmes, lets move on to what you can do to help prepare your lawn for the upcoming colder days.

  • When leaves fall, rake them up. This will ensure your lawn is still in the light and will not suffocate.

  • Cut and trim down any overhanging bushes / trees to aid more light is coming into your garden.

  • Keep mowing your lawn! If you stop mowing in the colder months, your lawn will become overgrown therefore suffocating the root system!
