How should I take care of my lawn in spring?

Getting your lawn looking like the images on the slideshow takes quite a bit of work, but not to worry, that’s what we are here for!

Following the cold , dark and usually wet Autumn /Winter period, Spring is the season when temperatures are rising, we might even get to see some sun! This is generally when renovation works on a lawn commence, however there are some important tasks which need to occur to maximise the health and thicken the lawn.

Here are some tips on getting your lawn Spring ready and looking amazing:

  • Fertilise and apply weed control to the lawn. It is important to apply the correct products at the correct rates and timings. A specialist lawn treatment service will manage this for you.

  • If you haven’t already, you should rake up any dead leaves off your lawn. If you keep the fallen leaves on your lawn, the grass will simply suffocate. So make sure your lawn is clear.

  • Ensure your lawn mower blades are sharp and ready to use again! If not, then we would advise getting your lawn mower serviced. This might sound tedious, however, if you mow your lawn with blunt blades, your lawn will go through immense stress, therefore not looking its best. Make sure you are not cutting the grass too low.

  • If you have any dead patches of lawn, which consistently show up after Winter, please contact us as we can arrange a survey.

  • Spring time could also bring lawn pests which can very quickly undo all the hard work put in over the previous months. If you start seeing some dead patches on your lawn, contact us straight away and we can assess the lawn as correct identification is crucial. You can learn more about these pests here.
